Abstract
Abstract Hexacarbonylvanadium, V (CO) 6, was found to promote ECl (E= Ph, PhCH 2, Ph 3 C, and Ph 2 P) bond fission to give VCl 3 and E E coupling products. For E= Ph 3 Sn and Ph 3 Pb, the derivatives E V (CO) 6 were isolated in 76 and 60% yields, respectively. The dark red Ph 3 PbV (CO) 6 was studied by X-ray diffraction methods.
