Abstract
Reformatsky reactions of a phenyl ketone, an α-bromoester, zinc dust, and a catalytic amount of iodine in dioxane under high-intensity ultrasound (HIU) irradiation from an ultrasonic probe give high yields of β-hydroxyesters in short reaction times.
