Abstract
The reaction of Csubstituted 1, 2, 4-triazoline-3, 5-diones (RTAD's) with some electron-rich nitrogen heterocycles has been examined. RTAD's react rapidly with l-methylindole to give aromatic disubstitution in the 2-and 3-positions along with some polymer. 3-Ethylcarbazole reacts slowly to give a 2: l polymer. l-Methylpyrrole reacts rapidly to give 2, 5-disubstituted pyrroles.
