Abstract

The kinetics of bromination of alkylidene 2, 4-dinitrophenylhydrazones (DNPs)(giving the corresponding alkylhydrazidic bromides) were studied using an electrometric technique to follow the low (ea. 10-5 M) bromine concentrations involved. The reaction was zero order in bromine. It was also insensitive to variation in the halogenating species (as between, eg, bromine, tribromide ion, and chlorine).
