Abstract

The electrochemical oxidation of tin into solutions of RSH (R= C6Hs C6H4CH,) gives Sn (SR),. When 2, 2'-bipyridine (bpy) or 1, lO-phenanthroline is added to the solution phase, the product is the tin (1V) species Sn (SR), L. The electrochemical oxidation is shown to involve Sn (I1) as the first product in each case.
