Abstract

Various investigators have shown that (1) the nature of the nuclei3 attached to the 2, 2', 6, 6'atoms combined with the ring in a diphenyl,(2) the temperat~ re~*~,~*~ and (3) the s~ lvent~~~** have an influence on the rate of racemization of optically active diphenyls. In this investigation a further study of these factors has been made on the members of a series of 2- nitro-6-carboxy-2 I-alkoxydiphenyls (I)
