Abstract

Pentaerythrityl Monobromide (III).-The procedure of Beyaert and Hansensll was modified using 48% in place of 66% hydrobromic acid. Recrystallization of the final product from a mixture of 2 parts by volume of ethyl acetate and 3 parts by volume of chloroform gave monobromopentaerythritol (111) melting at 75-76'(reported mp 70-72", 11 76O12); yield 54% of the theoretical based on pentaerythritol.
