Abstract
Discussion The Reformatsky condensation with ethyl bromofluoroacetate serves as a novel synthesis of esters and acids containing an a-fluorine atom, a type of compound obtained previously only by oxidative2 or replacement method^.^ These latter methods do not appear to have as wide an applicability as the method reported here since condensations with bromofluoroacetate can be effected with nearly all types of aldehydes and ketones (Table ...
