Abstract: The axial conformer of phenylcyclohexane has been observed for the first time by using a unique but simple high-temperature cryogenic trapping technique. Thermodynamic and NMR spectral data have been obtained for this high-energy conformer, which is shown to have a perpendicular geometry.
