Abstract The comparative rates of cyclotrimerization of dimethylacetylenedicarboxylate (DMAD) and hex-3-yne have been studied with the catalysts [η 5-C 5 R 5) Rh (COD)](R= H, Me, Cl; COD= cycloocta-1, 5-diene),[(η 5-C 5 R 5) Rh (CO) 2](R= H, Me),[(η 5-C 5 Me 5 RhL 2](L= C 2 H 4, PF 3) and [(η 5-C 5 H 4 PPh 3) Rh (CO) 2]+ PF 6− under pseudo-first-order conditions.
