Abstract

The synthesis and some reactions of 3, 5-diacetoxy-a-diazoacetophenone and of 3-acetoxy- , 3-nitro-and 3-bromo-2, 5-diacetoxy-a-diazoacetophenone have been described. The diazo ketones yielded a-halo ketones by reaction with hydrogen halides, a-ketols by hydrolysis with hot dilute sulfuric acid, and (except for the 3-nitro diazo ketone) a-keto1 acetates by reaction with hot acetic acid.
