Abstract
Discussion In the reduction of silver nitrate by hydroxylamine, l0 the R and Sm values served as measures of the rate of the silver-catalyzed reaction. This reaction involved adsorption of both silver ions and hydroxylamine ions. The l/t values, on the other hand, measured the rate of a preliminary reaction which was evidently gold-catalyzed, since the kinetics indicated adsorption of silver ions but not of hydroxylamine.
