Abstract

Conclusion The interchange of oxalate ions with chromioxalate ions in aqueous solution has been investigated with the use of radio-carbon. At a temperature of 35'the exchange of oxalate ions is negligibly small. This result indicates that the racemization of the optically active chromioxalate ion, which under the same conditions is quite rapid, does not take place by a mechanism which involves an ionization of the coordination complex.
