Abstract

Reduction of tribromoresorcinol nionomethyl ether (IV) with zinc dust and acetic acid removes the bromine atom between the OH-and the OCHagroup forming I. Thus the reduction of IV proceeds in the same way as the reduction of 2, 4, 6-tribromoresorcinol, whereby 4, B-dibromoresorcino1” is formed.
