Abstract
H3C fiC0, H lb thiophenecarboxylic acid (la) was available in larger quantities than lb, conversion of la to (2)-3-penten-1-01 was examined first. Desulfurization of (2)-5-mercapto-3- pentenoic acid (4a) with W-2 hey nickello did not afford the desired (2)-3-pentenoic acid (sa) but a mixture of isomers.
