Abstract

The thermal rearrangement of N-allylanilines require drastic conditions compared to corresponding aryl allyl ethers. [¹5] However, such rearrangements usually proceed with significant rate enhancement under protic or Lewis acid catalysis. [¹6] It has further been observed that the presence of an additional N-alkyl group in the N-allylaniline moiety greatly enhances the rate of an aromatic aza-Claisen rearrangement.
