Abstract
HI I x= 0; Y= cn, EX: w,; Y= 0 c afforded (70%) 1413322 which gave, after reduction with 3 equiv of Dibah (THF,-78 OC, 2 h), the homoallylic alcohol epimers 1524 in 85% yield. The latter, upon further reduction (Li, NH3, and methanol) affords quantitatively 16, 24 bearing the more stable CY alcohol in the A ring. Epoxidation of 16 (MCPBA, methylene chloride, room temperature, 10 min) clearly provides 17.24 The desired f? sense of this epoxidation ...
