Abstract

Abstract Direct nitration of 1-fluoronaphthalene by fuming nitric acid leads to a good yield of l- fluoro-4-nitronaphthalene. Other 1-fluoronitronaphthalenes, formerly unknown, have been prepared from the corresponding nitro-1-naphthylamines. Their reduction to the corresponding 1-fluoronaphthylamines is also described.
