Application of our original photooxidation–reduction methodology to prenylated dihydroxycoumarin and trihydroxyxanthone compounds led to the corresponding ortho-(2- hydroxy-3-methylbut-3-enyl) phenol derivatives with yields ranging from 8 to 65%.
