Abstract
In searching for Arz-participation in solvolysis, acetolysis and formolysis of suitably substituted w-aryl-1-alkyl p-bromobenzenesulfonates have been studied. In the case of 4- aryl-1-butyl bromobenzenesulfonates, substantial rate enhancements result from introduction of one or two m-methoxyl groups into the benzene ring.
