Abstract

Reactions of such alkyl-and dialkylamides as methylformamide, dimethylformamide, and hexamethylphosphoric triamide with a variety of chloroanthraquinones have been described;'J these give (methylamino)-and (dimethylamino) anthraquinones, depending on the reagent and conditions. Formamide, presumably because of its demonstrated capacity for reacting with the carbonyl groups in the parent anthraquinone? has apparently not
