Abstract

Summary The long crystal spacings of the is0 series of fatty acids of wool fat increase linearly with carbon content. Both the spacings and diffraction patterns provide clear evidence of homology. The long crystal spacings of the is0 amides show the same peculiar periodic sequence as the melting points. The results are discussed in terms of a spiral chain configuration.
