Abstract

XI in the aromatic ring. In the present work this keto acid (11) was prepared from hydrocarbon obtained by hydrogenation and put through the steps of series (b) and (c) and thus converted into a product identical with a sample of the known4-methyl-1, 2, benzanthraquinone,'9 and the hydrocarbon XI1 and its picrate corresponded in properties with the descriptions given by Cook. 20 This evidence confirms the conclusion reached by ...
