Abstract
Porphycene photosensitizers bearing two or four methoxyethyl side chains were synthesized in nine steps from commercially available starting materials. Ether cleavage led to (hydroxyethyl)-and (bromoethy1) porphycenes that were converted to vinyl and benzo derivatives.
