Abstract
fi-Aminobenzonitrile was prepared as described in our previous paper, the nitrile being purified by crystallization from water. Instead of attempting to recover the nitrile in the mother liquors by concentration, it was found much more convenient to heat these aqueous mother liquors direct with excess of acetic anhydride, the nitrile being then thrown out in a few minutes as the crystallin acetyl derivative.
