Abstract

Abstract: The results of the first detailed nmr, infrared, and ultraviolet spectroscopic investigations of alkoxymethyl cations (alkoxycarbonium ions) are reported. These ions were studied as Meerwein fluoroborate salts or as generated in acid solutions from corresponding ortho esters or ketals.
