Abstract

We have previously reported2 the isolation and structure elucidation of an antitumor alkaloid, sinococuline (l), from the native Japanese plant Cocculus trilobus. Sinococuline (1) is characterized by a morphinane skeleton possessing a unique oxidation state on ring C and promising antitumor activity against animal tumor models.
