Abstract
Vinyl phenyl ketone (I) is the lowest member of the series of unsaturated phenyl ketones having a conjugated system. It should be of interest to compare the properties and reactions of the products derived from it by the addition of certain substances having active hydrogen with those obtained by the addition of the same compounds to a substituted vinyl phenyl ketone, such as benzalacetophenone (11)
