Abstract

Abstract A novel procedure for the preparation of 3-(p-hydroxyphenyl)-3-methyl-2-butanone, in excellent yield, is described via a simple AlCl3 catalysed rearrangement of p-ethoxy- pivalophenone. Various 3-(p-alkoxyphenyl)-3-methyl-2-butanones have been synthesised
