Abstract
Di-t-butylthioketene (IC) may be prepared by heating either di-t-butylacetyl chloride or di-t- butylketene with phosphorus pentasulfide in pyridine. Thioketene IC, in contrast to other nonhalogenated thioketenes reported previously, shows no tendency to dimerize or polymerize on storage at room temperature.
