Abstract: In order to gain additional insight into the scope of the through space 2p-3d overlap effect and into the structures of the transition states of the Sy2 reactions, we have prepared a wide variety of tertiary phosphines and have measured the rates of their reactions with benzyl chloride in benzene-methanol (32) solution.
