Abstract
Apparent dipole moments in benzene of the compounds II-VII, together with the theoretical moments of their CNDOj2 models, can be employed in a semiquantitative estimate of conformational population in methyl nicotinate (II) and nicotinamide (Ill). In the case of nicotinic acid (1) this approach does not lead to unequivocal conclusions.
