Abstract Diethyl 2, 3-epoxyalkylphosphonates react regioselectively with various nucleophilic reagents yielding 2-hydroxy-3-substituted alkylphosphonic esters. The 2- hydroxy functionality can be easily converted into an ester or ether derivative.
