Abstract

By the aid of laser flash absorption spectrometry the effect of deuteration on the reaction rate of keto-enol tautomerism of 2-(1'-hydroxy-2'-naphthyl)-benzothiazole in the electronic ground state was studied. Measurements were carried out in the temperature range of-80 to 20 0 C. Tautomerism of the unlabelled and the deuterated compound was found to be first order over the whole temperature range.
