Abstract
Abstract The Friedländer condensation of 8-amino-7-quinolinecarbaldehyde with a series of four isomeric diacetylpyrenes provides the corresponding 1, 3-, 1, 6-, 1, 8-, and 2, 7-bis (2′- [1′, 10′] phenanthrolinyl) pyrenes. These ligands, along with the tetrahydro analogue to the 2, 7-pyrene-bridged isomer, have been treated with [Ru ([D 8] bpy) 2 Cl 2], where [D 8] bpy=[D 8] 2, 2′-bipyridine, to afford the dinuclear Ru II complexes, 1 H NMR and X-ray ...
