Abstract

To reveal the light-color modulation mechanism of firefly (beetle) bioluminescence, we investigated the spectroscopic properties of the phenolate anion 1-O− generated from 5, 5- dimethyloxyluciferin (1-OH) using various base/solvent combinations.
