Abstract

The fact that reduction of e,@'-difluorobenzophenone by a modification of the Clemmensen procedure has been found to yield almost 80% of the theoretical amount of the pinacolone 1, 2, 2, 2-tetra-p-fluorophenylethanoneJ2 prompted this study of the applicability of the Clemmensen method to the reduction of aromatic ketones.
