Abstract

Abstract: Addition of Sn [N (TMS) 2] 2 to@-amino esters with sterically nondemanding substituents at C3 or on nitrogen gave@-lactams in 76100% yield. More sterically demanding@-amino esters could be converted to@-lactams in excellent yield using unsymmetrical tin (I1) amide reagents which were prepared in situ.
