Abstract

Abstract 2-Mercapto-thieno [2.3-d] pyrimidine-4 (3 H)-one, 2-mercapto-5.6. 7.8-tetrahydro-[1] benzothieno [2.3-d] pyrimidin-4 (3 H)-one and derivatives thereof were synthesized by cyclisation of esters or amides of the corresponding 2-amino-thiophene-3-carboxylic acids: either by direct reaction with thiourea or by reaction with methyl-or allyl-isothiocyanate via the corresponding N, N′-disubstituted thioureas as intermediates.
