Abstract

Lipases have characteristics that make them attractive tools for the synthesis of fine chemicals. They catalyze acyl-transfer reactions and are stable in organic solvents and at high temperatures. The possibility of modifying the performance of enzymes by biomolecular methods gives the opportunity to create tailor-made catalysts for each desired application.
