Abstract

The reactivity of seven sterically hindered acid chlorides RCOCl towards ethylmagnesium bromide in the presence of cuprous chloride has been studied. In addition to the ketones RCOEt, the compounds RCOCOR, RCOR, RR, RH and R ( H) are produced by a radical reaction.
