Conclusions While conjugated hydrocarbons were successfully dealt with by molecular mechanics years ago, the introduction of heteroatoms poses special problems. Firstly, information vital to good parameterization, such as, accurate structures, rotational barriers, heats of formation, dipole moments, etc., is very scarce for heterocycles.
