Abstract

The successful coupling with the pyridineboronic acids provides a new method for the synthesis of substituted bipyridines (26 and 27). Finally, the utility of the method was demonstrated by the synthesis of 4-methylmilrinone (31) from the readily available 6-bromo- 3-chloro-2, 4-di-methylpyridine-5-carbonitrile'(28).
