Abstract
While linoleic acid is readily available from certain vegetable fats, there is no known comparable source of arachidonic acid. In the animal body arachidonic acid is synthesized mainly from linoleic acid. 2 In serum, arachidonic acid forms part of the cholesterol ester fraction.
