Abstract

The results of Claisen's investigations dealing with the rearrangement of phenyl allyl ethers are well known. It is sufficient for our present purpose to recall that the migrating allyl group shows a preference for the ortho position and that the point of attachment of the allyl group in the cases hitherto investigated is shifted from the alpha to the gamma carbon atom.
