Abstract
The nmr spectra of series of 4-substituted-2-nitrophenyl acetonyl sulphides, ethyl sulphides, benzyl sulphides, and ethyl disulphides and of some ethyl 4-substituted-2- nitrobenzenesulphenates have been measured. The frequencies of the methyl and methylene protons give a good correlation with the Hammett σ-constant (r> 0· 990).
