Abstract

A mechanism for the polymerization of (SN), is proposed on the basis of a mass spectrometric study of the thermal decomposition of S4N4 The temperature dependence of the relative ion abundances and also the appearance potentials of the spectral fragments originating from S4N4 and S2N2 indicate that thermal decomposition produces these fragments as neutral species.
