Abstract
The seed oil of Crepis foetida L, a member of the plant family Compositae, contains SOY, of a fatty acid that has been shown to be cis-9-octadecen-12-ynoic acid. Thia nonconjugated polyunsaturated acid is the first known member of a new class of naturally occurring acetylenic fatty acids, analogous to linoleic acid in containing methylene-interrupted unsaturation.
