Abstract

Aromatic sulfenyl selenocyanates, ArSSeCN, are easily obtained by the reaction of the correspondent sulfenyl chlorides or bromides, at room temperature, with dry, powdered potassium selenocyanate, suspended in an inert solvent, such as benzene. In this way the selenocyanates of 2-nitrobenzenesulfenyl, 2-nitro-4-methylbenzenesulfenyl and 2-nitro-4- chlorobenzenesulfenyl were prepared. These compounds do not show a definite melting ...
