Abstract

Abstract Monocrotaline (1), a representative of carcinogenic pyrrolizidine alkaloids with an 11-membered dilactone has been synthesized in optically active form by virtue of regioselective coupling of (+)-retronecine (2) and the protected necic acid 3, the latter being synthesized enantioselectively from the Full-size image (< 1 K)
